Various aspects of symmetry are demonstrated easily using Escher's "Pericdic Drawings." The static nature of the book may be changed bycopyinga plate ontoa transparent film and cullingout the repeat pattem.Thestudent is now offered s "Periodic Puzzle" of plastic motifs which is solved by recreating the original drawing. Experience, so far u,ith a variety of students iron\ ten years upwards, has been to indicate that this puzzle is novel, and if they are interested in puzzles, challenging.
