Additions and Corrections Peroxynitrite Uncloaked? [Volume 11, Number 7, July 1998, pp 716-717] WILLEM H. KOPPENOL* Page 716. The correct rate constant for the reaction of carbon dioxide with peroxynitrite is not 2 × 103 M-1 s-1, as quoted in the second paragraph, but 5.8 × 104 M-1 s-1. The combined rate of disappearance of peroxynitrite via thiols and peroxynitrite is now approximately 100 s-1, and a hypothetical scavenger at a concentration of 10 µM would need to have a rate constant of 1 × 108 M-1 s-1 to scavenge 90% of the peroxynitrite. W.H.K. thanks Prof. R. Radi for bringing the error to his attention. TX9804987 10.1021/tx9804987 Published on Web 10/22/1998
