C r u d e n a p h t h a l e n e flakes broadcast over t h e onions gave favor able results in t h e control of onion thrips, a n d under certain con ditions h a v e given effective control of wire worms when mixed in the soil. I t also gives promise as a greenhouse fumigant for t h e control of thrips and t h e red spider mite, either broadcast on the soil o r vaporized slowly by heat. I t has been especially effective in t h e control of t h e gladiolus thrips, where it is mixed with t h e infested bulbs when stored for t h e winter. As a spray for con trolling t h e thrips on infested gladiolus plants, a mixture of Paris green with brown sugar has given good results. NEWER
