K4 Chamberland prepares first suecessful porcelain bacterial filter.

1938 Selas Corporation of America develops micro-porous porcelain filters with controlled pore size.

1965 Selas Flotronics introduces the first metal membrane filter. The Flotronics Metal Membrane Filter, a revolutionary new media for micro-filtration, is made of pure silver. The size, shape, and relative position of the metallic particles of the membrane structure are rigidly controlled to assure an extraordinarily uniform porosity and a high percentage of open area. Absolute control is exercised over pore size. These factors permit extremely high flow rates through filters of each specific porosity grade. Other features: positive surface retention, chemical resistance, minimum adsorption, no migration. The Flotronics Metal Membrane Filter is bacteriostatic, and reusable—and may be cleaned by back-washing or ignition. The Flotronics Metal Membrane Filter is recommended for micro-filtrations, and for the clarification, polishing or cold sterilization of pharmaceuticals, biologicals, or any type of beverage. Available in six porosity grades (5, 3, 1.2, .8, .45 and .2 microns maximum pore size). Write for details.
