As part of a systematic search for anticancer agents from natural sources, we examined the woody stems of Tibouchitia pulclrra (Cham.) Cogn. ( = Lasiaiidra pulchra Cham.) (Melastomataceae) for cytotoxic constituents.

T h e material was ground in a hammermill.
