POLYESTER RESIN PRODUCERS: ADD TO YOUR PROFITS WITH EMPOL DIMER ACID

Viscosity

Empol Dimer Acids offer you an economical means of imparting various degrees of flexibility or resiliency to unsaturated polyester resin systems. Used in combination with phthalic anhydride or isophthalic acid, dimer acid enables you to obtain a wide range of polymer properties by simply varying the ratio of flexibilizing dimer acid to rigidifying aromatic acid/anhydride used as the "saturated" acid portion. When compared with alternate approaches to imparting flexibility, such as the use of adipic acid, the incorporation of dimer acid allows a higher proportion of the low cost phthalic anhydride or isophthalic acid

superior low temperature performance . . . a bonus for you with plastolein polymeric plasticizers

to be used at equivalent flexibility. The result is lower resin cost. The graph illustrates the wide range of tensile and elongation properties possible for unsaturated polyester resins through appropriate choice of the dimer/phthalic ratio. This is based on the unsaturated polyester resin formulation below. For complete details, check the attached coupon.

The accompanying graph points out a sometimes overlooked but major advantage of Plastolein Polymeric Plasticizers; exceptionally good low temperature performance. Superior in fact to their best competition. You may already know that Plastolein 9717 Polymeric provides good low temperature properties down to -32°C. A look at the graph, however,

quickly discloses how all Plastolein Polymeries provide you with an excellent

measure of cold weather flexibility.

TENSILE STRENGTH (PSI)

This Plastolein Polymeric plus feature is well worth keeping in mind when seeking a polymeric plasticizer for your vinyl products. It means considerably greater low temperature protection than you get from competitive polymeries . . . an added quality, without sacrifice of permanence, for your or your customers' vinyl products in the event of cold weather use, shipment, or storage.
