Polymer innovators welcome unique product improvements offered by Polymer grade Azelaic Acid. Producers of man-made fibers — as well as producers of films, adhesives, and engineering plastics — are enthusiastic about the opportunity Emerox® 1144 Azelaic Acid gives them to develop custom made polymers having added consumer appeal and acceptance. This C9 dibasic acid contributes distinctive performance characteristics to polyester, spandex, and nylon fibers . . . due to its unique chemical structure, extreme purity (99.95% by weight of dibasic acid), light initial color, and dependable color stability. In these fibers, Emerox 1144 is used primarily as a modifying "monomer" to achieve characteristics such as improved low temperature properties and dye receptivity. Polymer-grade Emerox 1144 produces 6/9 nylon resins generally comparable to 6/10 nylons in per-

formance, but at much lower cost. Emerox 1144 is the principal dibasic acid component of these nylons which offer excellent abrasion resistance, low water absorption, high impact resistance, and a good, over-all balance of properties. Emerox 1144 is also used in modification of polyester adhesives. Emerox 1144 provides good melting point control, solubility flexibility, and chemical resistance, while retaining the desirable properties of these terepthalate-ethylene glycol polymers. Economy is another contribution of Emerox 1144. It performs as well as or better than sebacic acid in most polymer applications, and yet is substantially lower in price. In addition to Emerox 1144> Emery offers four other unique bifunctional monomers which are being used to create unusual new ar-

rangements of traditional molecules : • Empol® 1010 Dimer Acid (polymer grade), the purest, lightest color dimer acid ever made commercially • Emery 3879-R Bis (hydroxyethyl) Dimerate (BHED) based on Empol 1010 • Emery 3 7 5 2 - D Bis (hydroxyethyl) Azelate (BHEZ), a polymer grade intermediate based on Azelaic Acid and useful in polyester modification • Emery 3764-R Dimethyl Azelate (DMZ), another Emerox 1144 derivative for polyester modification. If you'd like to do some polymer innovating yourself, a good place to start is with one or more of these remarkable bi-functional monomers. Take a tankcar of Emfac® 1202 Pelargonic Acid... right off the shelf.

Plastolein® 9058 DOZ Plasticizer now approved for food contact use. Emery's latest ozone-oxidation fa cility, now on stream, is producing substantially increased quantities of pelargonic acid, a unique C9 straight chain, water white liquid monobasic acid. Manufacturers everywhere can now use Emfac 1202 to produce derivatives with outstanding color stability, and better low tempera ture properties than similar even carbon length products. Emfac 1202 is widely used in high bake alkyds and high tempera ture synthetic lubricants where its performance has been especially notable. It also finds application in specialty vinyl plasticizers, amine condensates, metallic soaps, as a flotation reagent, and in many other application areas. Plan now to introduce Emfac 1202 into your formulations. Just check and mail coupon to receive the sample reserved for you.

The recent addition of Plastolein 9058 DOZ (Di-2-ethylhexyl Azelate) to Food Additive Regulation 121.2511 now qualifies this pre mium quality low-temperature plasticizer for food contact use. This approval, plus its second-tonone low-temperature perform ance, makes Plastolein 9058 the ideal plasticizer for vinyl food pack aging. It imparts extreme clarity, sparkle, and appealing hand and drape, in addition to providing ex cellent low-temperature flexibility. Its low volatility contributes to low odor and taste properties, and re duces plasticizer loss during pro cessing. This outstanding azelate plasti cizer presents an opportunity to upgrade the performance of your film for food contact applications. Use coupon to request evaluation sample and complete information.
