PPG Chemicals put the sunshine back into plastic rainwear profits To stay on the sunny side of the profit ledger in plastics, you must make it good and make it fast. That's where PPG Chemical Division can brighten your day. Polyvinyl chloride producers find they can turn out twice as much high quality plastic in the same reactors when they use a half-pound or so of a PPG catalyst for each ton of PVC they make. When used with polyethylene, the catalyst (known as IPP or isopropyl peroxydicarbonate) helps produce a superior wrapping for food at lower processing cost. IPP was discovered through PPG's basic research into the chemistry of phosgene. The research program has also yielded BPIC, an efficient initiator in the manufacture of polystyrene and styrene copolymers, and a number of other products. And PPG supplies basic materials to keep continuous-process plants running — chlorine, hydrogen chloride, ethylene dichloride and others. If your business needs specialized help or carloads of bulk chemicals, call on PPG.
