Precision-Shell Gas Analysis Apparatus Developed in conjunction with the Shell Development Company, Emeryville, California Here is a new and simplified apparatus designed for the analysis of fixed and hydrocarbon gases by progressive absorption and combustion, or by selective absorption. This apparatus is built in various combinations, providing a versatility and flexibility of application. Not only does this new Precision-Shell Gas Analysis Apparatus greatly speed the analysis, but it affords the most precisely accurate operation of this type in use today.

Outstanding Features 1. A mercury lift pump, actuated by air pressure and vacuum, provides positive and definite control of gas displacement into and out of the absorbers. This mechanical operation eliminates t h e heretofore tedious and tiring raising and lowering of the leveling bulbs by manual effort. 2· A constant-pressure reservoir confines the gas during complete cycle passages, and automatically maintains constant pressure. Avoids the manual lifting of leveling bulbs. SEE YOUR LABORATORY

3» Of Outstanding importance in the design of this Precision-Shell Gas Analysis Apparatus is the Pressure Equalizer, used in conjunction with the Combustion Pipette. The Pressure Equalizer permits the burning of the hydrocarbons in the necessarily uniform, slow and complete manner which eliminates all explosion hazards. Briefly put, the Pressure Equalizer is the controlling agent which regulates the speed a t which the Combustion Pipette is allowed to burn off the hydrocarbons. 4. It is impossible to have any gas absorption by rubber tubing because there are no rubber tubing connections wherever there is a gas flow. 5. One-piece stopcock glass manifolds are standard on this apparatus. The absorbers are connected to the one-piece glass manifold by ground glass ball joints. Because of this design, small amounts of gas, which may be very significant, cannot be trapped between the butted ends of glass connections. 6. The entire one-piece glass manifold is easy to remove for inspection—for cleaning—or for any other reason. 7. Ground glass ball and socket joints provide the maximum flexibility. By their use, the breakage resulting from older types of rigid connections is greatly reduced or completely eliminated. SUPPLY
