Produce hot melt heat seal adhesives at lower cost with AcintofR-3A tall oil rosin.

Formulate heat seal adhesives with ACINTOL R-3A that perform every bit as well as similar formulations containing equal amounts of the higher priced hydrocarbon copolymers. A blend of 40 parts EVA (Ml = 12-18; 272 9 % VA), 20 parts 152°F AMP paraffin wax and 40 parts ACINTOL R-3A showed equal heat seal hot tack properties in the "DuPont Spring

Test" as the same blend containing a methyl styrene-vinyl toluene copolymer with a 100°C softening point. The polar nature of ACINTOL R-3A tall oil rosin also makes it a wise choice to replace more expensive hydrocarbon resins as an adhesion promoter in hot melt adhesives for cellulosic products.
