product development time

when you work with Wyandotte much of the work may already be done

when you work with Wyandotte much of the work may already be done

Think of the time, money and manpower you could save if part of the developmental work on your new product had been completed by someone else. Wishful thinking? Not when your new product involves one of our chemicals. For nearly 80 years we've worked with people in almost every phase of the processing industries. Our experience could pay off for you. You get more than key chemicals from Wyandotte; you get key ideas as well. Before a Wyandotte product is marketed, we learn as much as we can about it: Not only its properties, but its capabilities and limitations . . . its performance in apparent applications as well as purely speculative uses . . . its compatibility or reaction with other chemicals. And more. In fact, in many cases, Wyandotte research involves the manufacture of prototype end products . . . not for sale, but to prove a point; to discover an attribute. For example, in the field of urethane chemistry, we have produced well over 1,200,000 pounds of "consumer" items, to test our polyols, catalysts and isocyanates. The information continually gained in this practical research is added to our storehouse of available product data. Result? Often we help customers reduce product development time substantially. If you're in the development stages of a promising product, we invite you to take advantage of our time-saving ideas as well as our chemicals. Give us a call . . . let's put our heads together! IDEAS IN ACTION: Extensive product testing is α w a y of life at Wyandotte Research in depth is the watchword. Whether it's an exciting new product or an old standby, it doesn't become a Wyandotte key chemical for any applica tion until it has proven itself. And because most Wyandotte chemicals are intermediates, we often formulate examples of logical end products in our labs . . . subject them to exhaustive testing. Thus, Wyandotte provides a bank of valuable information for our customers to draw upon. It may help you save time and money in developmental projects. Such information is yours for the asking, so why not ask? Contact your Wyandotte representative . . . or write us.

Pluracol® 463 polyol makes possible commercially ac ceptable, competitively priced flame-retardant insulating foams for construction applications. The ASTM E84 tun nel test (pictured here) is an important measure of a material's flammability. Several Pluracol-based foam products have been awarded < 2 5 flame-spread labels and are in commercial production. Foams made with Pluracol 463 couple flame resistance with excellent strength, weatherability, low water absorption, dimen sional stability and sound deadening . . . they meet building codes; promise low-cost insurance ratings.

In our nucleonics laboratory, fabric swatches tagged with radioactive clay-sebum soils are washed in formulations based upon Wyandotte surfactants and related products. Soil removal and soil redeposition are precisely meas ured by the amount of residual radioactivity detected by a Geiger counter. Tests like these literally assure effec tive performance of our Plurafac® syndets and Carbose® CMC in properly formulated detergent products.

If printing paper is your product, our continual in-depth research of coating media will be of interest. Purecal®, Wyandotte's exclusive calcium carbonate for paper coat ing, has helped insure better printability, brightness and good color in both sheet-fed and web printing papers for nearly 40 years. This laboratory coating machine duplicates most commercial methods of paper coating employed today. It is invaluable to our specialists for solving problems in a variety of paper-coating processes.
