These reaction products of propionaldehyde have already reached commercial importance—trimethylol ethane for alkyd and polyester resins; 2-methyl-l-pentanol for plasticizers; propionic acid for esters, salts, and cellulose ester molding powders; and propyl amines as rubber accelerators.
