Puerto Rico Section Honors Ag Experiment Station Arturo Roque (left), director of the Agricultural Experiment Station of the University of Puerto Rico, accepts a testimonial scroll from Leonardo Igaravidez, secretary of the Puerto Rico Section. The scroll was authorized by the ACS Board of Directors to honor the fiftieth anniversary of the experimental station. Established in 1910 as a sugar cane research center, the station has become a modern institution dedicated to solve the complex agricultural, industrial, and economic problems of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
Recognition Emblem In response to many requests, the Board of Directors, at its meeting in September, authorized preparation of an ACS emblem of special design to recognize the services of past chairmen of local sections and divisions and to offer these for sale to sections and divisions.

Many orders have been large, since a number of local sections and one division wished to recognize all living past chairmen. Dr. Ernest Koerner, research chemist at Phelps Dodge Corp., is the 1961 chairman of the Northeastern Indiana Section. Dr. Koerner is a past chairman of the Passaic Valley Section and former editor of the Retort, Northeastern Indiana Section publication. Other officers include Harold Rothschild, Peter Eckrich & Sons, Inc., chairman-elect; Francis J. Herber, high school chemistry teacher at Larwell, Ind., secretary; Dr. Harlan E. Fiehler, Indiana University, treasurer; and Paul Brunner, superintendent of Fort Wayne Municipal sewage treatment plant, councilor.
