Statex LF produces long-wearing, cool-running tire treads at lower cost! STATEX LF is the new, high-structure carbon black de veloped by Columbian to improve treads. This black is in the HAF fineness range at the same price. It has shown an 8 to 9% improvement in road-test tread wear over N-347 (HAF-H) with the equivalent tire-running tempera tures and tread-cracking resistance of HAF-H. Statex LF develops a significantly higher modulus with the same or lower DBP as HAF-H and this higher modulus is developed with only a minor increase in Shore A hard ness. Its outstanding performance is attributed to struc ture/shape configuration as examined in the final tread v u l c a n i z a t e . W i t h i n DOT requirements, Statex LF a p proaches the tread wear of N-220 (ISAF) and equals the tread wear of N-285 (HAF/ISAF-H) at lower tire-operating temperatures.
