Conclusions This investigation shows that the Abrahamczik absorption tubes, with minor structural changes, compare favorably with those of the Pregl type in accuracy and reproducibility of results, ease of handling and filling, and capacity for the absorption of carbon dioxide and water. I n addition, they have the following advantages over the Pregl tubes: High atmospheric humidity has no effect upon the results obtained and corrections for humidity need not be applied. Since the Abrahamceik tubes are not vigorously wiped prior to weighing, the effect of static charges due to low humidity is entirely eliminated. While this advantage does not come

from the design of the tube, i t is brought about b y Abrahamczik’s procedure. The Pregl tubes could probably be wiped in a similar manner Kith equally good results. Because the Abrahamczik tubes are weighed while filled with oxygen, it is not necessary to flush the system with air, as in the Pregl procedure. This not only effects a sa\
