culated c i s t m n s moments for I1 and 111 coincide, the directions differ. As an adjunct to the present measurements, the dielectric constants of pure acetyl sulfide and acetic anhydridewere determined at 25". Values of 13.7 and 22.2 were obtained for I11 and I1 (1it.I' E 20.7 at 18.5'), respectively.
Present work.
Z C resultant (2). For the cis-trans conformation, the following equation may be ~ s e d . ~ ~ J ~ pa =
(2 - C X cos 60°)2
+ (C X sin 60°)2
Based on angles of 120" and bond moments of C=O (2.8 D), C-0-C (1.2 D), and C-S-C (1.6 D),4115the calculated moments shown in Table I11 were obtained.
