To the Edltor: I totally agree with Chapman regarding the ideal population of students used in the study "High School Chemistry as Preparation for College Chemistry"; motivated, highability students were used. However, the study provides no evidence, as Chapman indicates, that the piesent high school chemistry curriculum meets the needs of students. The data do indicate that, with tutoring, the students who did not experience high school chemistry were able to do as well as those students who did.
