Recycling Vacuum Pump with Used Alumina Recently we had the occasion to work with large amounts of neutral alumina for enlumn chromatography, and we were able to use this recnvered material for recycling waste vacuum pump oil. The alumina, while still wet after use in chromattxraphy, was pushed out of the cnlumn using compressed air, and the top : I 4 in., containingthe pnlar material. was discarded. The rest of the material was air dried and then oven dried at 1MYC for 3 hr, and then cooled and packed intoa largesintercd elass funnel with a laver of activated charcoal on tap.
