Official Business At the conclusion of the elections conducted by mail in the spring of 1970, the list of oficers of the Association for the year 197&71 was as follows Presdat: Dr. Russell Meinhold, Rhode Island College, Providence, R.I. Later, to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Sister Barbara, the Executive Committee appointed Sister Dorothy Higgins of Emmanuel College as Central Division Chairman; and when Sister Dorothy was also unable to serve, Margaret M. O'Connell (Charlestown, Mass.) was appointed to the position. The incumbents in the positions of Editor of the Newsletter, Editor of the Report, Curator, and Publicity Agent were reappointed by the Executive Committee. Norman G. Mills (Halden, Mass.) was appointed as Auditor. At the Annual Meeting on May 9, Claire Montague (Northfield, Mass.) was elected to the Committee on Nominations and Elections, and Robert D. Eddy (Tufts University, Medford, Mass.) was elected as a Trustee of the Endowment Fund. Later, President Meinhold appointed Leallfn B. Clapp (Brown University, Providence, R.I.) as Trustee of the Endowment Fund in place of the late Avery A. Ashdown.

366th Meeling: April 11, 1970, at Smith College, Northampton, Mass. 866th Meeting: May 9, 1970, at Boston College, Chestnut Hill, Mass. (the Annual Meeting). The Thirty-Second Summer Conference was held a t St. Anselm's College, Manchester, N.H., August 17-21, 1970. Chairmen of Program and Arrangements were Arthur L. Laferriere (Rhode Island College) and Elizabeth G. Tite (Holyoke Community College), respectively; Harold B. Bjornson (Melrose High School, Melrose, Mass.) was Registrar-T~easurer. The theme of the Conference was "The Chemistry of Water," and the Theme Speaker was Dr. Rahert L. Kay (Carnegie-Mellon University), who presented four lectures on the subject. Four lectures by other speakers were also related to this theme: "Polymerization of Water," Frederick Fowkes (Lehigh University); "On the Existence of Polywater," Denis Rousseau (Bell Telephone Laboratories); "Water Desalting," Henry Valcour, Jr. (Ionics, Iuc.); and "Water as a Resource," Alfred Hawks (The Auduhon Society). Other lectures included "Chemistry Instruotion in Victoria, Australia," John Neal (Haileyhury College); "Polyelectrolytes in Environmental Control," C. R. Witschonke (American Cyanamid Co.); "Educational Applications of the Computer," Frank Huston (St. Anselm's College); "Chemical Bonding in the Beginning High School Course," Benjamin Peterson (East Providence High School); "Chemical Changes in Aqueous Solutions Effected by Ionizing Radiation," William Gagnon (Rutgers University); and "Behavior of Transient Species Produced upon Pulse Radiolysis of Aqueous Solutions," Morton Hoffman (Boston University). Miss Helen Crawley presented an account, illustrated with slides, of her trips to Labrador and Greece. Workshop sessions were held dealing with gas and thin-layer chromstography, water pollution, membrane microfiltration, and weighing techniques. Substantial support for the Conference was provided by the National Science Foundation, which made grants to 35 teachers to assist their rtttendance and also contributed directly to covering some of the Conference expenses.
