agents, reagents for aromatic substitution, olefin addition, etc. Kenneth M . Nicholas, Boston College Rings, Clusters and Polymers of the Main Group Elements. ACS Symposium Series 232. Edited by A. H. Cowley. American Chemical Socieity, Washington, D.C. 1983. vii + 182 pages. $32.95. This book brings ten papers presented at a symposium sponsored by the ACS Division of Inorganic Chemistry at the 184th Meeting of the American Chemical Society in Kansas City, Missouri, September 12-17, 1982. The topics covered include the following: “Systematic Approaches to the Preparation of Boron Hydrides and Their Derivatives” (15 pages), by S. G. Shore; “Coordination and Related Chemistry of Polycyclic Tetraphosphorus Compounds”(31 pages), by J. G. Riess, “Cyclic and High-Polymeric Phosphazenes as Carrier Molecules for Carboranyl, Metallo or Bioactive Side Groups” (18 pages), by H. R. Allcock; “Polyanionic Clusters in Solids and Their Chemical Reactions” (12 pages), by H. G. von Schnering; “Cyclophosphathiazenes Containing Two- or ThreeCoordinate Sulfur” (12 pages), by N. Burford, T. Chivers, M. N.

Additions and Corrections

S. Ras,and J. F. Richardson; “Polyatomic Zintl Anions Stabilized Through Crypt Complexation of the Cation” (16 pages), by J. D. Corbett, S. C. Critchlow, and R. C. Burns; “Multihapto Bonding Between Main Group Elements and Carbocyclic Ligands“ (13 pages), by S. G. Baxter, A. H. Cowley, and J. G. Lasch; “Novel Cluster Interactions in Metalloboranes” (14 pages), by N. N. Greenwood; “Molecular State Fingerprints and Semiempirical Hypersurface Calculations” (27 pages), by H. Bock, R. Dammel, and B. Roth; “Synthesis of Phosphorus-Nitrogen Polymers by Using Silicon-Nitrogen-Phosphorus Reagents” (9 pages), by P. Wisian-Neilson, A. K. Roy, Z.-M. Xie, and R. H. Neilson. With the exception of the paper by Bock, these papers fall within the scope of the title. It is curious that silicon chemistry was not represented in this symposium, particularly since there is much current research on cyclic silicon compounds. The chapters in this book are short and narrow in scope. Nonetheless the book will be useful to those readers interested in this general area since some of its currently active aspects are covered. The book is well produced and it has a four-page index, which, given the contents, was really not necessary. Dietmar Seyferth, Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Due to an error during production, structures 1 and 2 (p 1291) from the previous paper were also incorporated into the above-noted paper. The two structures should be deleted from p 1291.
