Instrument Analyzes Labeled Compounds Faster and more accurate chemi cal analysis of labeled compounds is possible with this new paper chromatograph scanner, according to its manufacturer. I t detects beta-gamma emitting isotopes such as carbon-14, sulfur-35, and phosphorus-32, and, when operated as a proportional counter, also senses alpha radiation. Once started, the unit completes the scanning opera tion automatically and then turns itself off. Dept. IEC, Nuclear Measurements Corp., Indianapolis 18,Ind. 72 Flow Indicator New indicator is designed to be used with turbine flowmeters pro ducing a frequency output propor tional to flow rate. It requires no accessory equipment. Indicator is available for volumetric or gravi metric measurements. Dept. IEC, Cox Instruments Division of Geo. L. PURE LATEX TUBING This photo, taken during extra corporal heart surgery, shows the use of a Sigmamotor Pump. It utilizes a peristaltic-like action for handling liquids, slurries or gases. It was chosen for this delicate operation because it cannot contaminate blood. In contact only with pure RLP Latex Tubing, the blood never touches working parts of the pump. RLP Latex Tubing is used as the conductor in these pumps because of its purity and resiliency. Only RLP can recover fast enough from the pulsating action to provide safe and efficient operation. These qualities, along with its strength, lightness, gripping power, flexibility and chem ical resistance, give RLP Latex Tub ing countless laboratory and produc tion applications. Economical too — it can be repeatedly sterilized and re-used. A v a i l a b l e in 24 standard sizes. Photo courtesy of The University of Minnesota Variety Club Heart Hospital, Minneapolis
