% In the fast-growing Gulf Coast petrochemical area, as in other areas all over the world, SD's exclusive emphasis on chemical process skill enables the company to undertake complete and integrated responsibility for all phases of a project, from earliest planning to plant startup. The startup department is staffed entirely with experienced engineers from SD's research and engineering groups as well as trained full-time startup chief engineers. At the same time as the four Gulf Coast plants, SD's startup group placed onstream in Japan a perchloroethylene plant for Kureha Chemical Industry Company, Ltd.
