This new instrument for Nephelometric analysis, together with the associated Coleman Nephelometric Standards, offers scientists for the first time a practical and rational means for expressing haze in terms of a coherent numerical system. Instead of the great amount of time required by gravi metric analyses, only seconds are required to quantitatively measure precipitates with the Coleman Photo-Nephelometer. Results are exactly reproducible, interprétable between different laboratories and at different times. The instrument is extremely sensitive, making it possible to evaluate solutions whose solid concentration is so low that the haze is hardly discernible to the eye.
