LAWRENCE A. HARRIS was born in Toronto in 1923. He received a B.A.Sc. jrom the University of Toronto (1946) and S.M. and Sc.D. degrees jrom M.I.T. (1948 and 1950, respectively). He taught electrical engineering at the University oj Florida (1960-51) and was on the faculty of the University of Minnesota from 1951 to 1955. Since 1956 Dr. Harris has been a physicist at the Research and Develop­ ment Center of General Electric Com­ pany in Schenectady, New York.
