SD licenses Monsanto oxychlorination process to Mitsubishi Chemical Scientific Design has contracted to design an integrated vinyl chloride plant for Mitsubishi Chemical Industries, Ltd., utilizing Monsanto's commercially proven route via oxychlorination and direct chlorination of ethylene and thermal cracking of dichloroethane, and SD's process and engineering experience.
The 110 million pound per year vinyl chloride plant will be built at Mizushima, Japan. The new plant features low capital investment and conventional materials of construction, and will produce high-purity vinyl chloride monomer at low operating cost. SD is exclusive licensor for these processes.
