TESTS Assay (By gravimetry). Weigh accurately about 0.5 g, dissolve in 100 mL of water, and add 1 mL of acetic acid. Add, with constant stirring, 25 mL of 5% potassium hydrogen phthalate solution, and allow to stand for 2 h. Filter through a tared, fine-porosity filtering crucible, wash with three 5 mL portions of saturated potassium tetraphenylborate solution, and dry at 105 °C for 1 h. The weight of the potassium tetraphenylborate multiplied by 0.9551 corresponds to the weight of the sodium tetraphenylborate.

Loss on Drying Weigh accurately about 1.5 g, and dry at 105 °C to constant weight.

Clarity of Solution Weigh 1.5 g, add 250 mL of water and 0.75 g of hydrated aluminum oxide, stir for 5 min, and filter through a filter paper. Filter the first 25 mL portion again. The filtrate should be clear.
