Special Report from Michigan Chemical Michigan announces new flame retardant with reduced migration characteristics

«£

Michigan's new flame retardant called fireMaster® BP6 (Hexabromobiphenyl) is an ideal candidate for many thermoplastic systems. BP6 processes at high temperatures without sublima tion, and is unreactive in most polymers. It is both waterinsoluble and heat-stable. It furnishes a high bromine content in the end product—economically. And it has shown reduced migration as compared with other brominated aromatics, thus assuring long-term flame re tardant effects. It is now available in commercial quan tities for many polymer applications* including: ABS, SAN, polyolefins, polycarbonates, ΡΡΟ, nylon, PVC. It can also be used in phenolics, polyesters, epoxies, fabrics, fibers.

Other products include T23P, LV-T23P, T13P, T33P, PHT4, BP4A, and HHP. These products are now widely used in the manu facture of flame retardant acrylics, cellulose acetates, polyurethanes, polyesters, epoxies, and many other applications.
