a In ref 53, NiI ions in a C b 3V geometry associated with a tripod chelate (tris(2-diphenylphosphinoethyl)amine) are described. A single ESR component centered near 2.196 has also been observed in MgO/NiO/Li2O materials and assigned to NiIII species.46 c D3d degenerated orbital mixture in which a Jahn-Teller effect is acting. d This work.
