Spectroscopic Terms for Equivalent Electrons Sample Output

Recently several articles and a computer program have appeared for the determination of the Russell-Saunders spectraseopic terms for equivalent electron^.'.^.^ A sample computer program obtained from Phillips3 has been modified and extended t o produce an output as illustrated in the table. All possible sets of equivalent electrons (up tog') are allowed. The Basic program was developed for a PDP EDUSYSTEM 20, Version C, paper tape system ad requires 9 blocks of memory for operation. The worst case of P (with 3432 microstates) takes a t least 90 min to completthe nested FOR loops. A copy of the tape may he obtained from the author.
