A MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH in instrumental technique...
of unusual lightness, they provide the maximum in sensitivity. Especially compounded neoprene provides strength, elasticity, and resistance be sides durability. Uniformity in thick ness, closely maintained within a toler ance of ±.003 inch, provides increased flexibility and comfort, as explained by the manufacturer. Two sizes are offered labeled medium and large, with the large size available in three weights and the medium size in one weight only. P-23
The Cathode Ray
POLAROTRACE WITH ELECTRODE STAND FOR DIRECT O R DERIVATIVE O P E R A T I O N Speedy determination of concentrations up t o 1000 times lower than conventional types of polarosraphic instruments! Here is an entirely new approach t o the polarographic technique. Suitable for research or routine operations, the simplified control, superior sensi tivity and greater resolution of the Polarotrace will open new doors to chemical analysis. Its poten tialities for scientific progress are immeasurable.
Transistorized Decade Scaler A new transistorized decade scaler, combining transistor and plug-in printed circuitry with preset count controls to provide instantaneous count ing results on a six-digit, in-line, neon readout, has been developed by the Nuclear Corp. of America. Designated Model T-1700, this instrument can be used with any type of detector, whether scintillation, Geiger, or proportional. All operating controls are located on the front panel. Fine and coarse con trols are provided for the high voltage power supply which is adjustable over its entire range of from 500 to 3000
RAPIDITY · SENSITIVITY · GREATER RESOLUTION · DERIVATIVE OPERATION · DIRECT READING · EASE OF OPERATION · RUGGED DESIGN The Polarotrace is supplied complete with its Electrode Stand which includes a thermostatically-controlled tank, provision for simultaneous degassing of the three cells and easy means of raising or lowering the electrode in the solutions under test. Camera attachments are also available. Reference: B.J. MucNulty, G. F. Reynolds, E. A. Ferry. ANALYST (1954) 79,190 and 938

volts. A rotary switch provides stopcount and quick reset, and a resettable, eight-digit register shows elapsed time in seconds and tenths of a second. The instrument has an input sensi tivity of 1 mv. A second input jack provides 200-mv. sensitivity. Over-all resolution time is less than 1 micro second, allowing a maximum counting rate of better than 500,000 evenly spaced pulses per second. The linear, feedback-type amplifier has a gain of more than 1000 and pro vides gain stability independent of transistor, component, and temperature variations. The high voltage is stabil ized to 0.01% per volt change in the a.c. line voltage, while load regulation is 0.05% for a 10% current increase at any load up to maximum, according to the manufacturer.
