OHAUS MOISTURE DETERMINATION BALANCE A new type of balance for accurate determination of mois ture percent of any granular solid, semi solid or liquid which can be dried safely b y heat. A combination d r y i n g unit and precision balance f o r meas uring the moisture content o f 1 0 gram samples o f a w i d e vari ety o f materials w i t h a sensitivity of ± 0 . 1 % . Can aiso be used as direct reading balance, sensitivity 0.01 gram. Balance is o f the substitution type. Loss of w e i g h t caused by evaporation of moisture from the sample is compensated for by the a d d i t i o n of chain t o o n e arm of the beam by turning the graduated dial on front of the instrument. Knife edges are of hardened, polished steel. Bearing surfaces are of agate. Beam is p r o v i d e d w i t h zero adjustment and is magneticallv damped. Shadow-type indicating vane gives immediate indication o f balance position.

The 6 5 0 w a t t infrared heater provides r a p i d , even evaporation and is adjustable both in percentage output and in distance above the sample. H e a t i n g chamber has heat-resistant handle and a Pyrex glass w i n d o w for observation of sample. Timer shuts off heat at any p e r i o d from 1 t o 6 0 minutes.
