Summary of layoffs of chemists available A summary list of all layoffs of chemists and chemical engineers investigated by the American Chemical Society's Committee on Professional Relations is available at no charge upon request. The committee investigates and reports on layoffs to determine whether those affected are treated in a manner consistent with the society's Professional Employment Guidelines. The list will be updated annually and likely will be of particular value to chemistry students who are, or soon will be, seeking employment. Write to: Office of Professional Relations, American Chemical Society, 1155—16th St., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20036. D
