Summer Courses in Electronics and Infrared Spectroscopy Electronics for Scientists, a three-¬ week course in principles and experiments for those who use instruments, will be given at the University of Illinois, Urbana, 111., June 21 to July 11. This is a laboratory course designed expressly for chemists, physicists, medical scientists, engineers, and other research workers who have little or no background in electronics but who would benefit greatly by a working knowledge of electronic devices and circuits. College academic staff in all areas of science, industrial scientists and engineers, and medical scientists may apply for the course. All applicants must have either a B.S., M.S., Ph.D., or M.D. degree. For further information write Dr. H. V. Malmstadt, 3180 Noyes Laboratory, University of Illinois, Urbana, 111. 61803.
Two intensive courses on infrared spectroscopy (Technique, August 10-14, and Applications, August 17-21) will be offered by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology during the summer of 1964. The courses will be in charge of Dr. Richard C. Lord, Director of the Institute's Spectroscopy Laboratory, and Dr. Dana W. Mayo of Bowdoin College, Visiting Lecturer in Chemistry. Other Visiting Lecturers will include Dr. L. J. Bellamy, British Ministry of Aviation; Dr. E. R. Lippincott, University of Maryland; Dr. F. A. Miller, Mellon Institute; and Dr. H. W. Thompson, F. R. S., St. John's College, Oxford University. Application forms and full information may be obtained from Dr. J. M. Austin, Room 7-103, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Mass. 02139.
