We thank Fred Osterholtz of Union Carbide for making the 29Si NMR spectroscopy work possi ble. We also thank Laura Cerruti (HewlettPackard) for her assistance in interpreting and producing the graphics for the gas chromatograms. We would particularly like to express our gratitude to Anita Ciriello (HewlettPackard), whose support and encouragement brought this article to fruition.
