This Month's Cover. Trying t o verify the authenticity of antique stone objects presents a challenge to the analytical chemist. The au­ thenticity of the head on the cover as well as other pieces of a similar period has been studied carefully by several experts. The cover is a small head of Amenophis IV (Akhnaton), king of Egypt, X V I I I t h dynasty, around 14001360 B.C. T h e head is of pink limestone, about 5 in. high. For more details see page 17 A. ©
