Take a closer l o o k . . . now there's a new, economical way to improve the color quality of plasticizer esters. Sodium borohydride. Now you can consistently obtain improved color quality in your esters for less than a tenth of a cent per-pound-produced. Using 100 ppm of sodium borohydride, we've been able to reduce APHA color numbers in dioctyl phthalate (DOP) from an initial value of greater than 100 to as low as 10-20. Sodium borohydride is fast, efficient and economical. Compatible with standard in-plant processing times, it can reduce the color from the treated ester within minutes. Simply substitute sodium borohydride for a portion of your caustic or water wash and you can improve the color quality of your esters by as much as r ^ 90%. Modifications to existing equipment and kr-i additional manpower are seldom required.
