Tâkea doser look at a chemical furnace. You're looking at a particle of sodium thiosulfate magnified 40 times and caught in the act of forming a crystal. Every time a sodium thiosulfate crystal is created, energy is released. In effect, each crystal becomes a tiny furnace emitting heat that can be conserved, converted and reused to provide improved systems for the storage and transfer of energy. Currently, Allied Chemical engineers and scientists are hard at work perfecting the development of energy transfer systems that will tap the heat storing potential of sodium thiosulfate crystals and other similar materials. Why Allied Chemical? Because we know it is essential not only to develop new forms of energy but to maximize the potential of the energy resources that we already possess. In fact, we're presently working in close cooperation with both government institutions and industry to develop improved energy transfer systems. As an example, we're researching new and better refrigerants and working fluids to improve heat pump systems for homes and industry. We're developing a special organic ether-refrigerant formulation that can increase heating efficiencies in homes by up to 40%. We're looking at new and better ways to make photovoltaic cells. We're applying our unique experience with fluorocarbons to create improved methods of transferring solar heat. And we're using our special expertise in chrome chemistry to evaluate the potential of chrome-air cell batteries. Take a closer look at Allied Chemical. We're hard at work making America's energy resources work even harder Call or write: Allied Chemical,P.O.Box 2064R,Morristown, NJ 07960. (201 ) 455-4400.
