EXPANDING APPLICATIONS FOR HIGH-PERFORMANCE COMPOSITES Opening the door to broader applications of high-performance composites and adhesives. Wider temperature curing ranges for increased processing flexibility. Reduced energy and operating costs that put new materials within the reach of more manufacturers. These are the results of Allied's continuing research in fluorine chemistry. As the worldwide leader in fluorochemicals, Allied has developed unique boron trifluoride (BF3) latent epoxy curing agents. These cost efficient BF3 complexes afford composite manufacturers greater latitude in developing products for a broader range of applications in automotive, aerospace and recreation markets. BF3 complexes provide flexibility and variability in cure rates of epoxies. These specially-formulated catalysts release boron trifluoride in a controlled manner over a broad range of activation temperatures dramatically reducing both curing times and energy-inten sive processes. In addition, Allied fluoropolymer release films and new Accufluor CFx fluorinated carbon additive^ are further streamlining composite processes. As a result, manufacturers can more efficiently match composite or adhesive performance to design objectives. In an age where the cost of intermediates can have a
