Radîoactively Tagged Pesticides Three insecticides—endrin, aldrin, and dieldrin—are available tagged with carbon-14. These are the chemicals associated with the recent fish kills. The tagged compounds should aid in studies of the effects of pesticides. BairdAtomic, Inc., 33 University Rd., Cambridge 38, Mass. 501

Gas Chromatography Stationary Phases New stationary phases available include benzylamine adipate which is used for the analysis of aqueous solutions of the lower fatty acids and organosilicon polymers EGSS-X and EGSP-Z, formerly only available as coated packings. Applied Science Laboratories, Inc., P. O. Box 140, State College, Pa. 502

Labeled Amino Acids A full line of amino acids labeled with carbon-14 is offered. These com pounds are uniformly labeled and have high specific activity and high purity. Each type of product is prepared by growing Chlorella pyrenoidosa in a chemically defined medium with C 1 4 0 2 as the sole source of carbon, hydrolyzing the algal cells, and separating the L-amino acids by ion exchange chromatography or by growing a variety of yeast using uniformly labeled sugars as source of carbon-14. Inter national Chemical and Nuclear Corp., 13332 E. Amar Rd., City of Industry, Calif. 503

solvents, strong oxidizing action in aqueous solution, strong acidity in free acid form, decomposition in strongly basic solutions to give simple molyfadate solutions, highly colored anions or colored reaction products, and thermal stability. Sylvania Electric Products, Inc., Towanda, Pa. 504

Single Crystals Single crystals of high purity titanium, zirconium, and hafnium are now diavailable. They are 1 / 4 inch ameter and 1 inch long. Materials Research Corp., Orangeburg, Ν. Υ. 5 0 6 High Purity R e a g e n t G a s e s

High Purity Gases Bromotrifluorothylene is available in cylinders at a pressure of 24 p.s.i.g. This gas is 97.0% pure. Also available is hexafluoroethane at 99.6% purity, in cylinders. New and lower prices are announced for 11 high purity research grade gases. A bulletin is available which lists these gases and also recommends regulators and valves. The Matheson Co., P. O. Box 85, East Rutherford, N. J. 505

High purity Linde reagent gases are available in convenient, economical throw-away cylinders. Included are argon, carbon dioxide, helium, hydro gen, krypton, neon, nitrogen, oxygen, and xenon. Mixtures of these gases in proportions specified by the customer may also be obtained. Custom-blended mixtures with krypton-85, carbon mon oxide, methane, chlorine, and bromine are supplied in glass bulbs and in throw-away cylinders. J. T. Baker Chemical Co., Phillipsburg, N . J. 5 0 7

3. N o filling materials to come out.

The following molybdosilicate com pounds are available for use as re agents: 12-molybdosilicic acid, essen tially alkali-free and having a sodium content of 0.01% or less by weight; sodium 12-molybdosilicate with a so dium content of approximately 4.5% by weight; and ammonium 12-molyb dosilicate having an ammonia content of approximately 3% by weight. The general properties of the compounds are high molecular weight, a high degree of hydration, unusually high solubility in water and in organic

4. Greater legibility—darker stain. 5. Greater resistance to mechanical shock.
