For unparalleled versatility in MICROSCOPY The Wild M20 microscope is without a peer in the realm of microscopy. This superb example of Swiss craftsmanship and precise o p t i c s provides a l m o s t unbelievable versatility for both research and scientific exploration. Available with sextuple nosepiece, b u i l t - i n 20-Watt i l l u m i n a t i o n source, beam-splitting phototube for binocular focusing during photomicrography... as well as a full range of custom attach ments for all observation m e t h o d s . . . t h e Wild M20 is unmatched as a General Purpose or Research Microscope. A t t a c h m e n t s include the Cinetube ( s h o w n above), C a m e r a I I , U n i v e r s a l Lamp, Episcopic Equipment and Phase Contrast. The Wild Cinetube, designed for use with any 16mm movie camera having 50mm or 75mm focal lengths, permits critical focusing on the specimen while actually exposing f i l m . It contains two, built-in. beam-splitters together with a photo electric cell for exposure determination (with a galvanometer) and an internal projection tube for titling or designating pertinent footage. Your consideration of the Wild M20 will prove most rewarding. Write for Booklet M-20 todav.

This is an introduction to some of the techniques of analytical chemistry that have been developed in the last few years. Included are some that have gained recent prominence, either because of increased demand for in formation or because of improved methods or equipment. Among the techniques covered are flame photom etry, differential spectrophotometry, titration in nonaqueous media, coulometric titrations, use of ion exchange resins, and others. The principle of each method is described, and the equipment required is discussed, in cluding any variations that may have been introduced. Examples of the various techniques are given. There is a literature reference list along with suggestions for further reading. N u c l e a r M a g n e t i c Resonance. Ap plications t o O r g a n i c C h e m i s t r y .

John D. Roberts, viii + 1 1 8 pages. McGraw-Hill Book Co., 330 West 42nd St., New York 36, Ν. Υ. 1959. $6. This book is an outgrowth of about 40 lectures on the subject of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and the uses of high-resolution NMR spectros copy. It is aimed at those organic chemists whose background is deficient in nuclear and electromagnetic theory. Throughout, the author points out, the coverage is illustrative rather than comprehensive. Included arc a nonmathematical approach to the theory of NMR absorption and illustrations of applications to structural, analytical, and kinetic research. A simplified treatment of Bloch equations is given in an appendix to clarify the factors governing line shapes and the differ ences between absorption and disper sion modes.
