awardees, this year a Lifetime Achievement Award was also given to Prof. Chi-Ming Che from the University of Hong Kong for his creative contributions in the field of triplet emitters and solar chemistry, green oxidation, metal−nitrogen multiple bonds, metal−carbon multiple bonds, and chemical biology of inorganic medicines (Figure 2).4 The first recipient

n October 28−31, 2016, the Ceremony for the Huang Yao-Zeng Organometallic Chemistry Award of the Chinese Chemical Society (CCS) was held in Hangzhou, People’s Republic of China, during the 19th National Organometallic Chemistry Conference of China.1 The Huang Yao-Zeng Organometallic Chemistry Award was established in 2004 and is the most prestigious honor given by the Chinese Chemical Society, which is given biennially to two scientists with outstanding contributions in the field of organometallic chemistry. Fourteen elite scientists have received this award to date. The awarding ceremony is usually held as part of the National Organometallic Chemistry Conference of China. Among the past awardees, four have served on the Editorial Advisory Board (EAB) of Organometallics. These include Prof. Li-Cheng Song from Nankai University, who received the Award in 2004 and served as an EAB member from 1992 to 1997, Prof. Zuowei Xie from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, who received the Award in 2010 and served on the EAB from 2009 to 2014, Prof. Guochen Jia from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, who received the Award in 2012 and served om the EAB from 2010 to 2012, and Prof. Kuiling Ding from Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, who received the Award in 2014 and served on the EAB from 2014 to 2016. This year, the two recipients are Prof. Jin-Quan Yu from The Scripps Research Institute (La Jolla, CA, USA),2 for his significant contribution in transition-metal-catalyzed C−H bond activation, and Prof. Haiping Xia from Xiamen University,3 for his systematic studies on the synthesis of metalla-aromatics (Figure 1). In addition to the above two

of the Lifetime Achievement Award was Prof. Xiyan Lu from the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, and 2016 marks only the second year that this honor has been bestowed on an exceptional researcher. The National Organometallic Chemistry Conference of China has been held every two years since 1980. Over the years, it has gained the status of being the most renowned national conference in the field of organometallic chemistry. It brings together scientists in all subfields of organometallic chemistry to present and discuss the latest advances. The 19th National Organometallic Chemistry Conference of China in Hangzhou attracted more than 1500 participants, a record attendance for this conference series.
