This shows the application of water and thin juice on the three last mills to dissolve the film of sugar juices in the cells of the fiber by successive freezings and soakings. The mills are driven by motors and steam engines through gearing on the right, and hydraulic pistons on top of each mill are controlled by air/oil pis­ tons pictured at left. Left.
