Since then there has gradually been evolved a bibliochrestic workshop that ranks among the leading chemical libraries of the country. 1

The shelving on the back wall of this side of the room is built t o the ceiling, but is not yet in use. T h e left side of the room is less symmetrical, owing partly to the placing of the librarians' desks facing the center aisle, and partly t o the cornered-olT workroom. There are, however, three 12-foot stacks toward the front of the room, which parallel the stacks across the aisle. Extending from the rear wall, perpendicular t o the 12-foot stacks, are two 8-foot stacks, the further one forming one side of the workroom. The other "partition" of the work comer is formed by a row of six steel file cases, while in the front corner on this side of the room there is another line-up of steel cases. Practically every inch of wall space has been shelved, and h
