You can make a self-gluing gasket from a vinyl plastisol by adding an Eastman plasticizer adhesive instead of just a plasticizer. Put the gasket on a bare or coated metal substrate. Heat it, and it sticks. Without glue. With bond strength often greater than the cohesive strength of the vinyl itself. Plasticizer adhesive PA-3 has an exceptionally low activation temperature. It's high-solvating. And it gives excellent viscosity stability with homopolymer resins. Low-solvating PA-5 has a slightly higher activation temperature. But it's less expensive than PA-3. And it prevents bleed-through when vinyl dispersions are top-coated with conventional finishes. Try PA-3 and PA-5 in automotive and appliance sealants. In structural adhesivesfor metal fabrication. In dip coatings. In foamed and unfoamed insulation. For more information on PA-3, ask for Data Sheet X-210. For more on PA-5, ask for X-209.
