Precision weighing the better way! with the All American Balance... The Torbal Friction Free Torsion Band Balance for accuracy, speed, convenience and reliability. Select a TORBAL® preci sion balance for virtually any purpose, and save a great deal of time and expense when you do it. With TORBAL's low maintenance balances, you'll also save money with years of trouble free performance. All TORBAL balances feature rugged torsion-band suspension making them far more reliable and durable than knife-edge balances. With torsion band fulcra there are no knife edges, no metal-to-metal wear, and no bearings to accumulate dust or dirt. And the weighing mechanism is not affected by corrosion or abrasive dusts in the atmosphere either.

The fundamental parts of the EA-1 weighing mechanism are shown below. Instead of the pointer and fixed index as used in a con ventional balance, the EA-1 uses a sensor called an Ε-core. The Ε-core, through an amplifier, senses the rotation of the beam and produces a meter deflection proportional to this deflection. All the weighing operations on the EA-1 are performed to return the meter needle to the original point of equilibrium or zero.
