Gane & Ingram, New York 11, has issued new price lists, representing price reductions, on p-aminobenzoic acid, so dium p-aminobenzoate, U.S.P., amino phyllin, and U.S.P. theophyllin. Hooker Electrochemical Co., Niagara Falls, Ν. Υ., has discontinued manufac ture of phenyl isocyanate and phosgene and has withdrawn prices on these prod ucts. B. L. Lemke & Co., Inc., manufac turer of pharmaceutical chemicals, Lodi, N. J., recently reduced its prices on p-aminobenzoic acid, U.S.P., and its potassium and sodium salts. United Research Laboratories, Phila delphia, has made a 60% price reduction in ACTH, the hormone used on arthritis patients. The mark-down was due to a new process which "makes it easier to extract this life-saving drug from the pituitary glands of hogs." The new price is $40 per gram, as against $100 previ ously and $200 three years ago. The new price amounts to 40 cents for one 10 mg. injection versus $1.14 previously. The electrochemicals department, Du Pont, has reduced prices of two grades of completely hydrolyzed polyvinyl al cohols from 81 cents to 72.5 cents per pound, in ton lots; for smaller quantities the same 8.5-cent reduction took place. The reduction is possible because of greater operating efficiency of a new plant at Niagara Falls. Partially hydro lyzed grades, requiring different process ing, are unchanged in price. V O L U M E
