Sephadex
Laboratory Apparatus for:
Ion Exchangers Because of its advantages —sta bility and inertness —Sephadex has been used to produce a new class of ion exchangers: QAE-, DEAE-, C M - and SE-Sephadex. Since theirintroduction they have been used extensively, particu larly in the biochemical and clin ical field. In the new bead form they will be more useful both for laboratory and m a n u f a c t u r i n g s c a l e p r o c esses. Their spherical shape gives increased mechanical s t r e n g t h and leads to e a s i e r column packing. More uniform p a r t i c l e s r e s u l t in i m p r o v e d hydrodynamic properties. All Sephadex Ion Exchangers have a high capacity and low nonspecific adsorption. They are available in two types that differ in porosity, thus offering flexibility for your specific requirements. Sephadex Ion Ex changers are of analytic grade purity and are produced under rigorous quality con t r o l , t h u s e n s u r i n g u n i f o r m p r o d u c t s to give accurate and reproducible results.

G r i n d i n g Vessel
The Potomill is a versatile instru ment featuring three speeds and a built-in timing device for runs of 0-15 minutes. A by-pass switch is provided for long grinding or mixing operations. The instrument can be used for the reduction of almost any material rang ing from quartz and rock, to foodstuff, pigments, and paper. It is ideal for spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and powder metallurgy specimen prepara tion. The vessel is available in hardened and stainless steel, agate, or tungsten carbide. Model RM-6 Resolution Multiplier au tomatically scans and then multiplies the resolution of curves and continu ous spectra by deconvolution. Its applications include mass spectrom etry, gas chromatography, nuclear magnetic resonance, infrared spec troscopy, and other continuous spec tra producing instrumentation. One unique feature of the RM-6 is that no assumptions or computations need be made regarding solutions being sought and results are not subject to operator interpretation. L o w Level α a n d β C o u n t e r
This instrument provides a quick, simple, and accurate means of measur ing and recording α and low-level β radiation characteristics of radioactive pollution of any surface where such pollution might exist. The instrument virtually eliminates the effects of both background radiation and self absorp tion. A large-area, low-level detector, an ultra-stable high-voltage power sup ply, a triple discriminating amplifier/ac gate, and appropriate line noise filter are included in the instrument. A printer control and printer can be added if digital recording of the results is desired. Philips, P. O. Box 523, Eindhoven, The Netherlands 424
