Page 965. We wish to clarify a misleading statement that appeared in our paper. The discussion implied that Prof. Jian Sun did not provide an explanation for the beneficial effect of the TFA addition to the trans-4-hydroxy-L-proline hydrazidecatalyzed aldol reaction on the stereochemical results. In fact, theoretical calculations were conducted in order to explain this effect. Protonation of one of the prolyl groups of the catalyst by TFA was believed to be crucial to both the reactivity and stereoselectivity, which facilitates the formation of a hydrogenbonding network in the transition state.
