Try DuPont's new Sodium Styrene Sulfonate for conversions to copolymers as high as 9 0 % . CH 2 =CH

S03Na

This monomer reacts more completely than other sulfonated vinyl monomers in polymer R&D. Conversions as high as ninety percent monomer to copolymer* top the list of advantages offered by DuPont's Sodium Styrene Sulfonate (SSS). These near complete reactions result in better control of the molecular weight and composition of copolymers. They also reduce the need for recycling or disposal of unreacted monomer. Discover the other advantages of S S S . You'll also find many other interesting R&D opportunities in this unique reactive monomer. For example, its strong anionic sulfonate group increases copolymer dye receptivity, antistatic and hydrophilic properties. This anionic group also suggests use of SSS as an intermediate for water soluble polymers or copolymers. Its sulfonate group resists salinity, divalent cations and low pH better than a carboxylate group. With SSS, performance improvements are possible in such applications as flocculants, dispersants, fibers (where its low color is important), plastics, latexes, coatings, and nickel brighteners.
