Two good reasons for joining the Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Division Meet Charlie Bartish and John Pfeiffer. Although employed by the same company, they met for the first time as members of the A.C.S.'s Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Division. Charlie, an inorganic chemist, joined l&EC to keep up to date on technological advances. John, a chemical engineer, joined so that he could receive abstracts of the many papers presented each year at various l&EC symposia. They soon discovered, however, that the biggest benefit of l&EC membership was the opportunity to meet people working in other disciplines. "In today's rapidly changing technology, the inter-disciplinary approach l&EC pro-
vides helps me keep up with what's happening in industrial chemistry," says Charlie. "It's the best forum I know of for people with common interests in industrial science and technology," says John. "For me, meeting with people from varied professional areas to discuss concerns of mutual interest is the best part about being an l&EC member." For annual dues of only $2.00, l&EC members receive newsletters, abstracts of all papers presented at l&EC symposia, and invitations to l&EC-sponsored social activities.
